- Caring less about everything.
- Switching friends; conversations with strangers.
- Defiance of rules and regulations, defensiveness.
- Withdrawal from family, mood swings, irritability.
- Disappearance of money or items.
- Feeling manipulated and bargained with; playing parents against each other.
- Isolation, depression, feelings of loneliness.
- Secretiveness, vagueness about social activities.
- Calls from school; skipping or sleeping in class.
- Less attention paid to cleanliness of body, hair, and clothing; fatigue, loss of vitality or hyperactivity.
- Drug paraphernalia: pot pipe, rolling papers.
- Use of incense, breath fresheners or room deodorizers.
- Changes in weight or sleep patterns.
- Changes in the eyes: redness, glassy, dilated.
- Legal problems: DUI, curfew violations, underage drinking.
- Abusive behavior: verbally or physically.
- Coming home drunk, high, or smelling of alcohol or pot.
